Introducing
the 8 Chords 100 Songs Worship Guitar Classes:
Now, you can learn to play worship guitar using the 8 Chords
curriculum one-on-one with Eric Roberts in a class setting.
In my small group classes, I take my students through the
same program that hundreds of students are using to learn
online and through my book program. Each class is tailored
to the age group and skill level of the students in the class.
The pace is set at a moderate rate and each class is about
8 weeks. I encourage students to start at the beginning but
I know that there are some students who may benefit from starting
in a higher level class. To start in a higher level class,
a student can “test up” by completing the quizzes
and tests for the previous classes. To “test up”,
contact me prior to enrollment for testing materials. My core
program consists of Book 1-2-3 and the original songbook.
It is intended to be completed within about one year. After
completing my program, students will be able to play many
of the top worship songs as well as have learned many other
skills and gained a firm knowledge of music theory that will
be a strong foundation for future learning. Students who have
the desire, can complete the certificate program requirements
to receive a certificate in worship guitar from the 8 Chords
100 Songs Worship Guitar School. |

Quarter 1 - Getting Started - Text:
8 Chords 100 Songs Book 1
Begin by learning important charts for reading guitar music
along with the proper ways to hold the guitar, the pick and
important finger and strumming exercises to help you develop
the skills you need to become a great player. You will learn
your first 4 chords and be able to play over 30 songs with
those simple chords. This is the kick start that every student
needs to begin playing the guitar. Many times, you can take
private lessons for over a year and never be able to play
a full song! In my class, you will be playing multiple songs
in your first 8 weeks. |

Quarter 2 - Going Further and Technique
- Text: 8 Chords 100 Songs Book 2
Continue to build on your foundation as you learn
great sixteenth note strumming patterns to add to the songs
you know as well as learn 4 more chords including the dreaded
Bm chord! I make it easy for my students with the new popular
voicing of the Bm chord used by pro guitar players all over.
It proves that you do not have to play a barre chord to
play a great sounding Bm and F#m chord. Also begin to develop
your picking and finger picking patterns to use on worship
songs. By the end of class 2, students will know enough
chords and patterns to play all 100 worship songs in the
8 chords complete songbook.

Quarter 3 - The Worship Song Shop
- Text: The Original 8 Chords 100 Songs Songbook
This is where the rubber meets the road for many beginners.
With their new knowledge of simple chord and patterns, we
begin the worship song shop to learn and play some of the
top worship songs of our culture. I continue to help the
student grow by using popular songs and widely used techniques
and chords to help broaden their skill level. You will begin
to learn hooks and lead lines along with the top songs and
begin to really play them like the original band. This class
is important for beginners at this stage because it boosts
their confidence and helps them begin to really build their
repertoire as a guitar player. This is a fun class focused
on learning songs and developing what was learned in Class
1 and 2. This class usually ends with a recital or performance
experience for the students that are interested.

Quarter 4 - Foundations and Theory
- Text: 8 Chords 100 Songs Book 3
This class is called "foundations" because we
will cover in depth music theory for the guitar player that
is truly the foundation for their musical future. The concepts
that students learn and begin to retain in this class help
them put together the musical puzzle. It is one thing to
be able to play a song... it is a whole different thing
to be able to understand how it is written, why it sounds
the way it does and how it is made up to be a song. Students
take the knowledge they have learned and the skills they
have acquired in previous classes and step them up to the
next level in this very important class. Students also develop
skills like playing and singing at the same time, playing
solos and scales over progressions, writing simple songs
and leading a worship band or small group worship set. New
chords, techniques and floods of knowledge come together
in this final class. It thrusts the beginning guitarist
into the realm of the advanced musician.
